This year for our
vacation we actually didn’t have plans to be gone all week. It’s the first time
in a very long time that we took vacation time and just stayed at home. It was
AMAZING!!! I told Gary that I planned on
not doing a darn thing that didn’t sound like fun to me! I planned on doing
lots of scrapbooking and just hanging out with the family. And that is exactly
what I did!!! My Skinny Mickey cannot
sit still! He is not one to just relax
and do nothing, so I told him that he could do whatever he WANTED to do, but he
was not allowed to do anything around the house that “had” to be done! No yard work, no fixing stuff. He said to me,
“I enjoy that stuff!” (Naturally he
would say that) So, I told him as long
as it was something he ENJOYED fine, but when he felt like it was turning into
work he had to do something else. He
spent time in the garden, working a little in his workshop and time in the
house hanging out with the rest of us.
We
did take two days and went away. We have
season park passes to Six Flags so we decided to use those one of the
days. While we were in town we decided
that we would take in a Rangers game also.
Gary looked online for tickets for the game and quickly realized that we
would be sitting up in one of the top sections of the ball field. After being
to the Rangers game with the company several weeks back, I told Gary I wish I
could show them the same treatment as I got to have with such amazing seats
This got me to thinking; I decided that I would ask Kris (our CEO) if he had
any season tickets available for Friday or Saturday and if so if there was a possibility
that we could buy tickets from him. After talking to Kelley to see if she thought
I would be out of line for ask Kris this I decided to do it. It took all the courage I could muster up to
type out that email and hit the send button to him. Kris isn’t a scary person;
he is very nice and approachable. However, I always seem to trip over my words
when I talk to him. I didn't want to
come across like I was looking for a handout, as I was NOT. I worked up an
email and sent it off to Kelley to proofread first. Ha! After getting the all clear from Kelley I
sent it off to Kris and then freaked out!! I seriously was sick to my
stomach. (yes, I’m crazy.) He replied back a short while later and said
that he couldn’t promise anything, but asked how many tickets I would need. When I saw his man come up on my email I
froze. I wanted to open it, but I was scared!!
I sent back a reply to let him know that if it was possible we would
need four tickets. I then went off to
lunch and panicked the entire time. All
I could think about was he was thinking I was just looking for a handout and he
was disappointed in me! When I got
back from lunch I didn’t have any other emails, but shortly afterwards I got
another message from him. He told me
that he would have four tickets for the Saturday game for me the first of the
next week. OMG!! I was flipping out.. I replied back to him and told him that my
family was going to be so excited and if he would let me know how much we would
owe him I would be sure to have the money for him the next week as well. His next reply was this.
God has blessed me with an opportunity to bless you - enjoy the game, there is
no cost to you!
Blessings,
Kris
I was truly
left speechless. That man is awesome!
We had a
wonderful time at Six Flags. Brandon rode some of the big roller coasters!
Unlike Kelsey, Brandon is not a thrill seeker. He is a lot like his mom and is
just content waiting in line and walking across to the other side while Gary
and Kelsey ride the rides. He rode the
Shock Wave, Runaway Mountain, Mine
Train, and the Bobsled this time.
It was
such a fun day together, the four of us.
We don’t get a lot of time like that together anymore-with Kelsey
working and away from home a lot. When we do get the time we all treasure it.
Saturday was the Rangers game! We never did tell Brandon that we had some amazing tickets; he was expecting that we were going to have to set up in the very top. Along with the four tickets that Kris gave to us, he gave us a parking ticket as well. This parking space is within arm’s reach of the stadium! It makes you feel like someone really special. We pulled into our numbered parking space and noticed a bunch of people camped out under a tree. I walked over and asked one of the parking attendants what they were all doing and he said that they were waiting for the players to come to the game and sometimes they will stop along the curb and autograph things for those waiting. How fun!! We got to the game early, so we had some time to camp out before the game to see if we were able to get anyone’s autograph. We saw a few of the players drive into the underground parking garage, they all just waved and kept driving, but we were lucky and one of the players stopped. #21 Brandon Snyder (we didn’t know who he was, but we were happy he was stopping!.) pulled over to the curb and signed things for those standing by. Brandon got his newly purchased hat signed by him! It was so fun.
After obtaining our autograph we headed to the gates and stood in line. We noticed one door set of gates open 10 minutes before they were supposed to and looked up and saw it said “Season Pass Holders”, so we dashed over, because for the one day WE were Season Pass Holders! Yeah Baby!!
We got to age in the gates ahead of the thousands of other people waiting to get in. It was also Bat day. Every kid 13 and under was given a wooden souvenir bat. Score! With us getting in the games early we were first in line to get into the Cuervo Club, again only for certain season pass holders. Kris told me when he gave me the tickets that we should be sure and go to the Cuervo Club. While standing in line for the doors to open to the restaurant a man asked us if we had been there before, we told him no and he told us to follow him and he would take us to the best seats in the room. The doors opened and we were off. He took us right up front where we could see right out the big windows overlooking Home base. What an amazing view!
Brandon was in awe. He, still not knowing where our seats were going to be, decided that it would be best for us to stay right here for the entire game! We were all enjoying the awesome view and the good food. After eating we walked around the stadium to the souvenir shop before finding our seats. We finally went towards our seats, and Brandon looked at me and said “we’re setting down?” I smiled at him and said “Yes!” Mom of the year right here! WOO HOO!!
We were on row 12 above the visitors dug out! It was AH Mazing!!! Aside from it being 500 degrees with only a few clouds in the sky and the fact that the Rangers ended up losing we had the time of our life.
Thanks to Kris for blessing us with the tickets I was able to show my family the right way to go to a Rangers game!
